Commercial Assistant

The Role:

We are looking for a dedicated Commercial Assistant to join our team and support the Commercial Department. As the Commercial Assistant you will to provide support to our Commercial Management team on our projects, ensuring all commercial aspects are effectively and pro-actively managed. This role will suit someone looking to start or grow their career within the commercial department in construction.

You will be required to:

  • Support the procurement process with subcontractor packages.
  • Help with the preparation of sub-contract enquiries at tender stage and ensuring all sub-contractors have had the required information to enable them to provide timely quotations.
  • Review Sub-Contractor quotations and complete comparisons.
  • Assisting with the preparation of subcontractor contracts and scope of works.
  • Work closely with the Commercial Manager, Construction Directors and Site Teams to resolve any commercial issues that may arise.
  • Assist with subcontractor accounts queries where required.
  • Assist the Commercial Manager with reporting against project budgets and cost estimates to the Finance Management Team.

Knowledge and Experience Required:

  • Previous experience in buying or selling within the construction industry..
  • Ability to work well with management and staff.
  • A keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Ambitious and pro-active to develop the role.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work on own initiative.
  • Excellent excel skills and knowledge of SAGE 200
  • Good knowledge of other Microsoft office applications

Qualification and Skills:

  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Excellent numeracy skills.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new systems and processes.
  • Ability to communicate with different levels of organisation both internally and externally.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office including Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
