LNT Care Development's Chairman is Lawrence Tomlinson who is one of the UK’s most successful entrepreneurs. The self-made businessman has been expanding the Group since he started in business 30 years ago. Commercial accomplishments led to Lawrence being named Institute of Directors’ Overall UK Director of the Year in 2013 and was the Government’s Entrepreneur in Residence in 2014, advising the UK Government on business policy.
Lawrence can often be found on the podium celebrating major wins with his Ginetta race cars. An accomplished racing driver, winning at Le Mans in the famous 2006 24 hour race, he is passionate about providing an accessible route to top level racing for aspiring drivers.
Now one of the leading business spokespeople on banking practice, following the publication of the www.TomlinsonReport.com in 2013, Lawrence is dedicated to promoting fair banking practice where both bank and business can grow together to benefit the U.K. as a whole.
Corporate Development Director
Having joined in 2012 as Commercial Director, Matt soon made his mark on the Group’s business performance. His open approach to communication and honest, but fair attitude, is valued by the full team which creates a positive work-place atmosphere. With a strong working relationship and shared vision for the business with Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson.
Matt draws from his previous experience, bringing understanding and specialist knowledge from a range of sectors. Matt’s professional accolades include a degree in Business and Management Studies and qualification with the Association of Corporate Treasurers. Prior to joining, Matt was Regional Director at the Royal Bank of Scotland for the corporate operations team in the North East of England and Yorkshire. Prior to that, he spent time as an adviser at KPMG specialising in debt transactions and project finance.
Working closely with fellow Board Member Philip, Matt successfully secures commercial transactions for LNT Care Developments.
Described by staff as an ‘all round good guy’, Matt is a true family man and is married with three children. He still manages to find time out of his busy schedule to go mountaineering, cycling and playing squash.
Head of Development
A lawyer by trade, Philip spent much of his earlier professional career as a solicitor. Having graduated from Birmingham University, Philip completed law school and went to work at leading City law firm Slaughter and May for 7 years. Following starting a family, Philip left the City and joined leading regional law firm Freeth Cartwright LLP in 1997 where he became a corporate finance partner in 2000.
During his 15 years at Freeth Cartwright, Philip acted for LNT Group on a wide variety of transactions. He soon became a trusted adviser to our Group Chairman, and in 2012 Philip was asked by Lawrence to join his Board. Philip is now heavily involved in all the transactions carried out, whether buying land, selling newly constructed care homes, commercial contracts or joint venture structures.
Known for his eye for detail and tenacious character, Philip is highly respected by the team as a key driver of the continued success. He works closely with Matt and Lawrence to develop and deliver commercial strategies.
When he is not in the office or completing our commercial transactions, Philip enjoys a round of golf and watersports.
Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer Nick takes a leading role on our board, working alongside the director team as we continue to scale up and grow. Nick joined LNT from Legal and General where he was a senior director heading a number of large businesses as well as leading investments in growth companies in the technology and financial services sector.
Nick has 29 years of commercial leadership experience in retail banking, investment management, asset management, surveying and insurance together with extensive knowledge gained from his position on the boards of various external companies. Nick brings to LNT his day to day experience in the delivery of programmes and his focus on business results and great customer outcomes for LNT, our partners and our customers.
Nick holds degrees and post graduate qualifications in Business Administration and Marketing Management. He is married and enjoys cycling, skiing, martial arts and an active social life now that his two teenage sons are progressing into the university years.
Dermot spent most of his career as a senior Partner at KPMG LLP, one of the big four accounting firms. His career at KPMG spanned 25 years, most of that time he was a Partner with national responsibility in a variety of businesses and a recognised leading advisor to private wealth.
He graduated from University of Hull and trained with Ernst and Young as an accountant and Chartered Tax Advisor before joining KPMG. Over his long career he also developed a strong national reputation as a leading tax advisor.
Dermot is an accomplished industry specialist in the care home sector and he has advised several leading businesses before he became a trusted adviser to LNT Group, having advised on the most successful transactions in the care sector in recent years. After leaving KPMG, Dermot was appointed an equity Partner in the distinguished city firm, Saffery Champness LLP. He built a new business in the North, but after two years he was invited by Lawrence to join the LNT Group board to help grow the businesses.
Working closely with fellow Board Members, Dermot now successfully secures investor transactions for the Group, carries out and sets the commercial strategies for all businesses within the Group.
Listed by Spears Magazine and Spears 500 as a top ten advisor in 2017 - 2020, he was a wealth management industry PAM awards judge for 10 years, and an expert before the House of Lords Finance Bill select committee.
Away from the business, Dermot is a trustees of Leeds Cares a sizable charity who support our NHS in Leeds.
He is a family man with grown up daughters, and also has a passion for walking, mountaineering, horse riding, skiing, country sports and the opera. He was a trustee of Opera North Future fund until he ran out of time!
Construction Managing Director
Peter has over 30 years experience in the construction industry after starting as an Electrical Apprentice at the age of 16. He has worked with Lawrence throughout this time and formally joined LNT Construction as Contracts Manager in 2008. After being with the company for eight years he became Head of Mechanical & Electrical in 2016. Peter now works directly with the Board to lead the overall direction and vision for the business in his role as Managing Director which he has held since August 2018.
Peter is married and has three daughters. When he is not in the office or on one of the many care home sites, he can often be found on the fairway improving his swing or defending his title in the annual LNT Pool Competition.
Nick is a Chartered Surveyor with over 30 years’ experience and has held senior acquisition and property management roles at Grand Metropolitan and Mansfield Brewery.
Prior to joining LNT, Nick was a director of a large specialist firm of agents and valuers in the leisure and healthcare sectors dealing with Corporate Valuations. Nick joined LNT Group 14 years ago and over the last 12 years, as Development Director has focused on land acquisition, investment and turnkey sales.
Prior to joining LNT in 2016, Keeley had over 20 years’ experience in Development and Main Contracting holding both Operational and Strategic Development roles within Connaught, Carillion and Esh. With a strong background in bid and construction management, Keeley has a successful history of acquiring development opportunities for both private and social schemes across the UK.
Much of Keeley’s background had a strong emphasis on collaborative working and driving effective partnership which continues to be a fundamental aspect of driving LNT’s pipeline of sites activity from site identification through to completion and successful construction handover.
