Exchange and Planning Permission Granted For 66 Bed Care Home in Ely

Posted on the 16 Apr 2018

LNT Care Developments (“LNT”) has bought land in Ely for a 66-bed care home and had planning approved by East Cambridgeshire District Council who voted unanimously for the care home.  The facility will provide residential and dementia care for those aged over 65 years.

Construction is due to start July 2018 with a predicted completion date for August 2019.  Once complete, the home will be a strong community facility, integrating with the nearby local facilities of shops, churches and schools. It will provide outstanding accommodation with fully en-suite bedrooms, spacious communal areas, and state-of-the-art amenities including a cinema, library, garden room and tea shop, all surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens.

Using their in-house software, LNT identified an undersupply of quality care beds in the area and having secured the site on Westhill, is pleased their building will provide a much needed resource to the local community and create 50 local jobs once open.

The home is designed to best enable the delivery of quality care and provide a positive lifestyle choice for local people who may be frail, elderly or living with dementia.

Martin Hutson, Managing Director at LNT Construction, said:

“We are delighted to be building such a fantastic care home in Ely. It will create 50 jobs in the local area and provide a high quality resource for elderly people in the local community. The facility will incorporate intelligent dementia design and be eco-friendly by benefitting from ground source heat pumps and LED lighting keeping utility costs low.”
