LNT Care Developments has received planning permission to build two 64 bed care homes, one in Welwyn Garden City and the other in St Neots.

Welwyn Hatfield Planning Committee approved the planning application for a 64 bed care home in Welwyn on 18th February 2016. Once complete in September 2017, Country Court Care will own and operate the home providing residential and dementia care for those aged over 65 years.

Al-karim Kachra, Corporate Finance Director at Country Court Care said:

"We're very excited to be opening a home in Welwyn Garden City. There is a lot of development need in the sector and we believe now is an excellent opportunity to add some high quality care beds. The data shows an undersupply of beds in the area and we want to meet that demand."

St Neots’ planning application, also for a 64 bed residential and dementia care home, was approved by Huntingdonshire District Council on 23rd February. Anchor is set to become the owner and operator with a completion date schedule for April 2017.

Dominic Hayes, Director of Property Development and Procurement at Anchor, said:

“We are delighted to be working with LNT on developing a care home in St Neots.  The new home is part of Anchor’s ambitious plans to develop lots more retirement housing and care homes in England over the coming years.  For our care homes, we want sites of one to two acres, for our extra care / assisted living, two to three acres and for our villages, we need sites of five acres and above.”

Both homes will be strong community facilities, integrating with the nearby local facilities of shops, churches and schools. They will provide outstanding accommodation with fully en-suite bedrooms, spacious communal areas, and state-of-the-art amenities and gardens. The homes are designed to best enable the delivery of quality care and provide a positive lifestyle choice for local people who may be frail, elderly or living with dementia.

Christine Cooper, Project Director at LNT Care Developments, said:

“We are delighted to be building two fantastic care homes for Country Court Care and Anchor.  It is also great news for both Welwyn and St Neots, creating 50 jobs in the local area and providing a high quality resources for elderly people in the local community. The facilities will incorporate intelligent dementia design and be eco-friendly by benefitting from ground source heat pumps, solar thermal panels and LED lighting keeping utility costs low.”
